Bennett's Modest Proposal

(Conspiracy Nation, 10/01/05) -- Jonathan Swift (image, left) wrote, in 1729, a satirical essay entitled "A Modest Proposal." "It is a melancholy object to those who walk through this great town or travel in the country, when they see the streets, the roads, and cabin doors, crowded with beggars of the female sex, followed by three, four, or six children, all in rags and importuning every passenger for an alms. These mothers, instead of being able to work for their honest livelihood, are forced to employ all their time in strolling to beg sustenance for their helpless infants..." begins Swift. Swift proposed that the Irish could solve their poverty problem by eating their babies! There were howls of outrage. "How dare he suggest such a thing!"

Bill Bennett, unlike Jonathan Swift, included a caveat with his own recent "modest proposal" -- aborting all black babies. It would be "an impossible, ridiculous and morally reprehensible thing to do," he stated.

Nonetheless, claims Bennett, aborting all black babies would cause the crime rate to go down. This implies that the black crime rate is higher than the overall crime rate. Is it? Preliminary research by Conspiracy Nation is unable to verify the claim.

Some Democrats are shocked by Bennett's "modest proposal." "Abortion!" they gasp. "How dare Bill Bennett suggest such a thing!"

In truth, there has been a de facto implementation of what Bennett suggests operating for years now in America. Leaving to one side whether one favors or disfavors abortion in general, a sort of genocide against the poor, many of whom are black, has been proceeding for years.

This latest Bennett brouhaha serves as backdrop for the upcoming "Million More March," scheduled for October 15th in Washington, DC. Louis Farrakhan, leader of the black separatist group called "Nation Of Islam" (NOI), commemorates the 10-year anniversary of the "Million Man March." Not much has changed for African-Americans in the interval, and Louis Farrakhan continues to live luxuriously.
