Which Is The Meathead?

-- Can you know for certain which one of these two gentlemen is "The Meathead" and which is a "Fed"
Governor? One of them is Rob
Reiner, who played Archie Bunker's son-in-law in "All In The Family."
The other is a prestigious economist, Ben Bernanke, slated to become
chief of the "Federal" Reserve.
Kind of scary, isn't it, this
omen
of the future "Fed" chair being a meathead? What with inverted
Christmas trees, Ted Koppel's eerie
retirement, and secret M3
monetization schemes, one can't help feeling apprehensive.

As the saying goes, "Sleep well tonight. The Federal Reserve stands
guard." Sed quis custodiet ipsos
custodes? (But who will guard the guards?)
This question, Sed quis custodiet
ipsos custodes?, is from the Roman satirist Juvenal. Other
uncanny coincidences mentioned by Juvenal are
- probitas laudatur et alget
-- honesty is praised and left to
shiver;
- When was vice more rampant? When did the maw of avarice gape
wider? When was gambling so reckless?
- ...no deity is held in such reverence amongst us as Wealth;
- ...a man of high birth and wealth being handed over in marriage
to a man. Yes, and if we only live long enough, we shall see these
things done openly;
- What man wins favor nowadays unless he be an accomplice -- one
whose soul seethes and burns with
secrets which must never be disclosed?
- Can you submit to a she-tyrant when there is so much rope to be
had, so many dizzy heights of windows standing open...;
- So great is the skill, so powerful the drugs, of the abortionist,
paid to murder mankind within the womb;
- ...and wasteful Rome sets no limit to extravagance;
- ...the public has long since cast off its cares; the people that
once bestowed commands, consulships, legions and all else, now meddles
no more and longs eagerly for just two things -- Bread and Circuses (panem et circenses).
Wasteful Rome sets no limit to extravagance.
- Heritage Foundation budget analyst Brian Riedl warns that the
U.S. Congress is spending lavishly;
- Congress struggles over relatively minor budget cuts, but ignores
big-ticket spending on tax cuts, defense, and homeland security;
- Government promises to trim $35 to $50 billion over the next five
years, yet it spends $2.5 trillion each
year;
- New medicare drug benefits to cost $700 billion over the next 10
years. Cui bono? (Who
benefits?) The pharmaceutical industry;
- David Walker, U.S. Comptroller General warns, the fiscal future
is "worse than advertised";
- "Congress is shifting deck chairs on a sinking financial ship."

Ridder, 11/06/05)
Overseeing this financial insanity has been Alan Greenspan, Knight
of
the British Empire (KBE). They call him, "The Maestro," when he is
better called "The Mackerel" -- a slippery character with something
fishy about him.
Taking the helm from The Mackerel as he retires as "Federal" Reserve
chair is purportedly Meathead look-alike Ben Bernanke. As these two
ships pass in the night, a mysterious event occurs! The M3 numbers sink
beneath the waves!
Send out the lifeboats! The M3 data are submerging! Nary a word about this in the mainstream
press.
