How The CIA Played America

(Conspiracy Nation, 02/14/08) -- What do Richard Wright, Gloria Steinem, Henry Kissinger, George Meany, Nina Simone and Arthur Schlesinger Jr. have in common? The answer, writes Michael Kazin, is that “[d]irectly or indirectly, they all took money from the Central Intelligence Agency during the early years of the Cold War.” (The Mighty Wurlitzer: How the CIA Played America, book review by Michael Kazin. Originally from The Washington Post's Book World, partial post at amazon.com)

Kazin reviews a new book by Hugh Wilford (“The Mighty Wurlitzer”). The “Wurlitzer” idea suggests “Feminist” Gloria Steinem, “Statesman” Henry Kissinger, and “Historian” Arthur Schlesinger as keys of a Wurlitzer organ being played by “Maestro” CIA.

Communists had created “front” organizations in America. Soviet archives made available in the 1990s reveal how Moscow financed “fifth columns” in the United States. The Red Scare of the 1950s went to extremes, but nonetheless there were Soviet spies who had penetrated elite levels of the U.S. hierarchy. (Background: “Recent Exposes Of Reds,” http://www.shout.net/~bigred/RedExposes.html)

So the CIA decided to mimic Soviet methods. Gloria Steinem, Zbigniew Brzezinski, and Walter Pincus (now a Washington Post newsfaker), “took part in a CIA-funded effort to disrupt a communist youth festival in Vienna.” (Kazin, op. cit.)

Also reportedly funded by CIA was the American Society for African Culture. The Old Guard Black leadership is crawling with CIA-types as well as sleepers from the earlier Communist infiltration of America. Their former duplicities reverberate today in the stale African-American so-called leadership.

The CIA's array of front groups were capable of playing any propaganda tune desired. This is still the case. Something stinks about news coverage even today. A brass band with fifes and drums accompanies some events, such as the athlete steroid allegations. But where is the brass band when it comes to new revelations about the CIA “Wurlitzer”?

At an early age,” wrote Sherman H. Skolnick (1930-2006), “Bill Clinton went to Moscow and somehow grabbed, for CIA, the secret transcript of Kruschev lambasting Stalinists.” (Background: “Clinton's Mission To Moscow,” http://www.shout.net/~bigred/ClintonMoscow.html). The word was, in the 1990s, that Hillary Clinton, “Feminist”, held a higher rank in CIA than “co-president” Bill Clinton. Rumors of a lesbian gang known as “The Cement Mixers”, feared and respected by other organized gangs, have been previously covered by Conspiracy Nation. (“Pussy Galore Endorses Hillary Clinton,” http://www.shout.net/~bigred/PussyGalore.html). Another unsavory element of the so-called “Feminism” is Betty Frieden, who in fact was a professional propagandist for the Soviet-controlled Communist Party. (“Gradualism Of 'Free Trade'”, http://www.shout.net/~bigred/Gradualism.html). Subjected to “dirty tricks” attacks has been Oprah Winfrey, intimidated by a “barrage of abuse” because she does not back the CIA candidate. (Background: “Al Sharpton, A Taunted Tiger”, http://www.shout.net/~bigred/SharptonTiger.html). Enjoying a comradely relationship with Fidel Castro has been Louis Farrakhan, of the “Nation Of Islam.” (“Comrade Farrakhan Visits Cuba”, http://www.shout.net/~bigred/FarrakhanCuba.html).

So where are the brass bands from the newsfakers to surround the above news? Brass bands accompany escaped tigers and wilting celebrities, but why so little attention to CIA and Communist fronts still likely influencing American politics? Is the so-called “news” also part of the CIA Wurlitzer?
