Using SSH on Windows
To ssh to duracef.shout.net, we recommend using a program named PuTTY
which supports both telnet and ssh connections. As of 6/01/03, telnet access to
duracef has been restricted. Here are some instructions for configuring PuTTY
to ssh into duracef. When finished it should look like the screenshot below.
-
Download PuTTY
(putty.exe) to your desktop and double click on its icon to open it,
no installation is required.
-
Fill in the server host name to read: duracef.shout.net.
-
Click on the SSH radio button, this will automatically set
the port to 22.
-
Name the connection by typing it into the Saved Session box
and clicking the Save button. In this example, duracef.shout.net
was
used.
-
Double click on the connection's name listed in the Saved Sessions
box to open the session, or click the Open button after single
clicking the display name and loading the session's properties with the
Load
button.
Now you should have a window prompting you to login. Type in your username,
then enter your password when prompted. When you have logged in successfully
you will see a prompt like the one below, except username will show
your own username.
