See-Saw Of Benazir Bhutto

What is lacking is “narrative” (what Rush Limbaugh calls “the template”) to surround the up-down see-saw of Bhutto.

Why is there no “narrative”? Conspiracy Nation theorizes it is due to a work slowdown by “news writers,” in solidarity with their brothers and sisters in the entertainment industry. The Associated Press reported earlier today that, “About 500 unionized news writers are expected to vote Thursday to authorize a strike, potentially joining their creative colleagues on the picket line.” (“CBS News Writers to Vote on Allowing a Strike Over Pay”)

Theorized is that the “news writers” don't exactly invent news. Their job, rather, is to frame news with a “narrative” (or “template”). The missing narrative in the Bhutto see-saw would be something like, “Hidden Hand Of Evil Bush,” or “Oppressed Female Feminists Of Pakistan.” But the “news writers,” in solidarity with creative colleagues from a similar union, are staging a work slowdown. So there is no narrative, hence no “crisis,” and Benazir Bhutto goes up and down on a see-saw.

In other “crisis news,” given that the “news writers” are doing a slowdown, it looks promising that there will be no crises this week. On Saturday, of course, the “news writers” are at the golf course and no crises can happen then. Next week is short on crisis time, since by Wednesday everyone is thinking Thanksgiving. The major “crisis time” would be the following Monday, after various dysfunctional families have digested all that Thanksgiving “togetherness.” But if the “news writers” are on strike or are staging a slowdown, what then?
