Forbidden History

(Conspiracy Nation, 06/03/07) – In “At The Mountains Of Madness,” H.P. Lovecraft describes a (fictional?) lost city in Antarctica: “There were geometrical forms for which an Euclid could scarcely find a name.” The geometry was “wrong.”

Lovecraft's lost city of Antarctica was built using “anomalous balancing and adjustment of the vast rock masses.” Also using vast rock masses are the weird constructions of ancient Egypt. In a fascinating collection of essays, Forbidden History (Rochester, VT: Bear & Company, 2005), Editor J. Douglas Kenyon includes this startling tidbit: “In the summer of 1997, Atlantis Rising [Kenyon's magazine] was contacted by a scientist involved in government research into nonlethal acoustical weapons. He said his team had analyzed the Great Pyramid using the most advanced tools available and concluded that its builders used sophisticated geometries that we have only recently begun to understand – 'way beyond Euclidean'”. [Emphasis added]

Lovecraft's lost Antarctic city is dated, in his story, from the Tertiary period and with nothing definitely later than the Pliocene. Of course, that is a presumably fictional account. To imagine that some sort of beings built a huge, non-Euclidean city in Antarctica roughly 10 million years ago strains belief. After all, not so long ago we had as our basic framework the first man having arrived only 6,000 years back. Writing in 1877, Helena P. Blavatsky pointed out that, “The long-accepted Biblical chronology has so cramped the minds of not only the clergy, but even our scarce-unfettered scientists, that in treating of prehistoric remains in different parts of the world, a constant fear is manifested on their part to trespass beyond the period of 6,000 years, hitherto allowed by theology as the age of the world.” (Isis Unveiled, Vol. 1, chapter XIV)

Maybe we can't push humankind's history back to the Tertiary period. (Then again, what evidence would remain after 10 million years?) But we are allowed now to look beyond circa 4,004 B.C.

However we are not allowed to look for humankind having a civilization anywhere much before the rise of Sumeria. William P. Eigles, one of the contributors to Forbidden History, though, calls into question “traditional notions of the linear, uniformly progressive rise of human civilization from approximately 3100 B.C.E. forward.” Why could not there have been previous civilizations, which went into decline? (“In Defense Of Catastrophes”)

Pre-historical civilizations having risen thousands of years before the Sumerians is not allowed because it would bring “catastrophism” into play. This risks “secular catastrophism gaining ascendancy over uniformitarianism [i.e., gradualism],” suggests Eigles (op. cit.)

And why is catastrophism taboo? Because it contradicts gradualism, “a Darwinist tenet that assumes all life evolved slowly and without interruption.” (“Evolution vs. Creation,” by David Lewis. Forbidden History, op. cit.)

This is the Rosetta Stone encountered by the Conspiracy Nation editor about a month ago while reading Blavatsky. Previous advanced civilizations, dating back beyond 5,000 B.C. and evidenced, for example, by the Central American pyramids and the Easter Island statues, tend to be dis-allowed because it would undermine the Darwinian theory of evolution. Kenyon (op. cit.) summarizes that having modern human beings appearing, for example, so far back in time that primates had not yet appeared, would be devastating to the theory of evolution. Also problematic to Darwinism would be the existence of human giants in our remote past. Where would giants fit into the evolutionary scheme? (For more on giants, see “Giants In Those Days,” http://www.shout.net/~bigred/Giants.html)

In 1966, archeologist Virginia Steen-McIntyre investigated sites in Mexico. Sophisticated stone tools had been found. The sites might be very ancient, perhaps 20,000 years old. Astoundingly, Steen-McIntyre eventually dated the sites back to approximately 250,000 years ago! For this, of course, she was found to be a heretic and banished into obscurity. In the 1800s, California miners recovered, from mining shafts, stone artifacts and human fossils originating in geological strata documented at between 9 million and 55 million years in age. “For decades, miners in South Africa have been turning up – from strata nearly three billion years in age – hundreds of small metallic spheres with encircling parallel grooves.” (“Exposing A Scientific Cover-Up,” by J. Douglas Kenyon. Forbidden History, op. cit.)

So this is the key as to why civilizations existing circa ten or more thousands of years ago are not allowed: it would undermine the Darwinian theory of evolution. There must have been a linear ascent from ape to man. Cyclical, recuring rises and falls of civilizations (in some ways more advanced than our own) confounds the gradualism and uniformitarianism needed for Darwinism to work.

But why is mainstream science so invested in Darwinism that it will close its eyes to numerous anomalies? “The materialism of To-Day is born of the brutal Yesterday,” wrote Helena P. Blavatsky in 1877. “It is the bastard progeny of the French Revolution and its reaction against ages of religious bigotry and repression.” (Isis Unveiled, Vol. 1, “Before The Veil”). Reacting against ages of religious bigotry and repression courtesy of the Vatican (for background, see “Heresy Of The Conspiracy Theorists,” http://www.shout.net/~bigred/Heresy.html), an extreme materialism was born. How did humankind come to be? “Life, to a Darwinist, can exist only in the context of absolute materialism: a series of accidental events and chemical reactions that are responsible for everything in the universe.” (Lewis, op. cit.)

An artificial dichotomy is prevalent: either one believes in evolution, or one believes the Bible is literally true. This limited so-called choice is framed, for example, in the movie, “Inherit The Wind” -- as if no other possibilities exist! (A third possibility is outlined in “Origin Of The Anthropoids,” http://www.shout.net/~bigred/Anthropoids.html). But “the creationism-versus-Darwinism debate may be missing the mark entirely.” (Lewis, op. cit.)

Lewis (op. cit.) further charges that Darwinism has become a de facto religious belief system. Kenyon (op. cit.) agrees that “scientists today have become a virtual priest class.” There is an ultra-conformity in so-called science these days, which is contrary to its original spirit. Besides “excommunication” suffered by Virginia Steen-McIntyre, we have last week's censure of NASA administrator Michael Griffin. Griffin had cast doubt upon whether “global warming” was entirely man-made, and wondered at the presumption that today's climate is necessarily ideal. “To assume that it is a problem is to assume that the state of Earth's climate today is the optimal climate, the best climate that we could have or ever have had and that we need to take steps to make sure that it doesn't change,” he stated. (“NASA Chief Questions Urgency of Global Warming,” NPR Morning Edition, May 31, 2007). In response, “scientists” launched an ad hominen attack against Griffin. Some demanded that Griffin must resign (be excommunicated) from his position. His actual argument was not seriously addressed.

Rearing their heads have been the contrary priesthood, hoping for a return to Biblical dogmatism. They believe the account of creation given in Genesis is literally true. An alternative to such fundamentalism is offered by Blavatsky. Genesis, according to her, describes four successive progenitors of man/woman. The first is hermaphrodite: “male and female created he them.” Then Adam, androgynous, made from “the dust of the ground.” The third progenitor, the giants. The fourth, the parents of men “whose daughters were fair.” Furthermore, claims Blavatsky, the first three chapters of Genesis “are but disfigured imitations of other cosmogonies.” In the fourth chapter, however, beginning at the 16th verse, and on through the entire fifth chapter of Genesis, we are given purely historical facts, though usually misinterpreted.

Lovecraft's fabulous lost city in Antarctica is echoed by author Rand Flem-Ath, who believes Atlantis can be found there. A 1665 map copied by Athenasius Kircher from much older sources shows Atlantis seemingly in the North Atlantic, yet upside-down in relation to north and south. This and other discoveries caused Flem-Ath to deduce Antarctica was being depicted, but viewed from an extreme polar perspective. (“Atlantis In Antarctica,” by J. Douglas Kenyon. Forbidden History, op. cit.)

We cannot yet explain the engineering principles used in the anomalous balancing and adjustment of the vast rock masses,” wrote Lovecraft, in “At The Mountains Of Madness.” Similarly, Christopher Dunn, in several essays in Forbidden History, marvels at the engineering abilities of ancient Egyptians supposed to be not far removed from the cave man stage. A machinist having decades of experience, Dunn measured, for example, the precision of the surfaces in the Serapeum sarcophagus. He was “flabbergasted” when he slid his precision square along the top of the parallel and found it fit perfectly on the adjacent surface. After contacting four precision granite manufacturers, Dunn could not find one who could replicate the perfection. “We are looking,” he concludes, “at a higher civilization in prehistory than what is currently accepted. The implications are staggering.”

The implications are staggering. That civilizations rise and fall. That they extend much further back in time than is supposed. That a priesthood of ultra-conformist so-called scientists has been hiding from us our true history, due to a vested interest in materialism.
