Freedom From Fear
(Conspiracy Nation, 08/30/07) – In “Mystical Agriculture Of Henry Wallace” (http://www.shout.net/~bigred/HenryWallace.html), mention was made of an FDR ideal: “Freedom From Fear.” This was one of Franklin Delano Roosevelt's “Four Freedoms.” Respectively, they were (1) Freedom of Speech; (2) Freedom of Worship; (3) Freedom from Want; and (4) Freedom from Fear.
FDR's “Four Freedoms” were defined in his January 1941 annual address to Congress. (http://www.fdrlibrary.marist.edu/od4freed.html). Elected to a third term as U.S. president, FDR would bring in with him Henry Wallace as vice-president. Henry Wallace, the World War II vice-president, a heart-beat away from the presidency, was a disciple of the Russian mystic painter Nikolai Konstantinovich Roerich. In one letter to Roerich, Wallace wrote, “Yes the chalice is filling... My highest regards to the heart trust, the guardians of the stone and chalice.” This would fit beneath the umbrella “Freedom of Worship.”
In 1947, Henry Wallace predicted that the Truman Doctrine would usher in a “century of fear.” And true enough, since that time, we have been gradually overwhelmed by increasing fears: fear of nuclear war, fear of marijuana, fear of crack cocaine, fear of Islamo-fascists. We have gone so far as to fear Don Imus saying, “Nappy headed ho.” An inversion of the 1950s “blacklist” may have begun with the Imus case. There is fear! We must be protected!
On the campaign trail in Iowa, Michelle Obama, wife of Senator Barack Obama, reportedly “was a firebrand” who expressed “a determined passion” and talked “straight from the heart with eloquence and intelligence.” Said Michelle Obama: “I am tired of being afraid . . . I don't want my girls to live in a country that is based on fear.” (http://www.suntimes.com/news/hunter/518408,CST-NWS-hunter21.article)
Mainstream news media (MSM) participate in fomenting the atmosphere of fear. Who knows why they do this. Maybe it helps their Nielsen ratings. Usually they plod along with really stupid “news” reports about “issues” guaranteed to put you to sleep. Then, in Phase 2, when you are dozing off, like the boy who cried “wolf”, the MSM blasts you with alarm.
The MSM often uses “scientific polls” to support what they say. This editor was once interviewed by one of these pollsters, and felt like he was in a strait-jacket as to what he could say. The questions themselves and the allowed responses were confining, and obviously “shaped” the results of the “scientific poll.” (Result, to this editor's amazement, is that he belongs to “middle of the road.”) A report by Bryan Young gives a good example of the strait-jacket of the “scientific poll.” (“The Terror Within: A Look at the Republican Messaging Machine,” http://news.yahoo.com/s/huffpost/20070830/cm_huffpost/062412;_ylt=Al2YkrKY.qaorKKdGWvJJKWs0NUE)
Being “middle of the road,” this editor is neutral about the Obama campaign. The MSM, obsessed with “race,” totally misses the more salient fact that Barack Obama is the one candidate not locked-in to Vietnam-era memories. Barack Obama is a younger man. That's what makes him different. Other candidates are re-living their youth by once again taking sides as they did during the turbulent 1960s. (This editor is a baby boomer, by the way, born in 1952.)
On the other hand, it is noteworthy how “Fidel Castro” has tacitly endorsed a Clinton/Obama presidency. Both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama belong to the Saul Alinsky fan club. Alinsky, a radical organizer from the FDR times, admitted he worked with Communists but was not a Communist himself. This may be the case. Henry Wallace seems to have been seduced by the Communist Party USA (CP-USA) during his 1948 presidential campaign.
“Fidel Castro” in the preceding paragraph is in quotes because, for all we know, Castro has long-since died. In “Recent Exposes Of Reds” (http://www.shout.net/~bigred/RedExposes.html) it was noted how the corpse of Vladimir Lenin is stuffed with artificial preservatives to give him that fresh flavor. A variant on this could be The Eternal Fidel, who never dies. Imagine twenty years from now: “Fidel Castro today warned President Paris Hilton not to meddle in Cuba's affairs.”
