The Great Global Warming Swindle
(Conspiracy Nation, 06/09/07) – Agricultural production being diverted from food to bio-fuels is a trend which portends worldwide food shortages. It is part of “The Great Global Warming Swindle,” the title of a program reportedly broadcast on Channel 4 in Great Britain. (“Interview: Piers Corbyn,” http://www.larouchepub.com/other/interviews/2007/3422piers_corbyn.html)
The Channel 4 broadcast may make it to DVD. Reportedly, however, there is some effort to suppress its release. (Ibid.)
Why would there be an agricultural trend toward bio-fuels? Are the bio-fuels emitting less carbon? Is that it? Or have we reached Peak Oil production, causing a scramble for alternatives to oil? One reporter indicates a financial bubble is involved.
A side-effect of sudden “global warming” panic is a rise in food shortages, according to Marcia Merry Baker. (“Biofuels Are Famine Policy; Food Shortages Are Hitting,” http://www.larouchepub.com/other/2007/3423biofuels_shortages.html) Reportedly, “speculation in grain futures—'paper bushels'—on the Chicago Board of Trade, is setting records.” Ms. Baker charges this is part of a “Great Biofuels Bubble,” which is “a financial swindle” laying the groundwork for future famine.
“However, so far, the U.S. Congress, and institutions of other leading food producing nations are casting a blind eye to food supply threats, in deference to the financial and agro-cartels involved in the stampede for bio-energy.” (Ibid.)
Sudden “global warming” (peak oil?) panic causes a rush to bio-fuels. This diverts agriculture from food production to fuel production. Consequently, there is less food. Speculators bet the trend to bio-fuels will continue. The “grain futures” skyrocket.
All this occurs in the context of questions about the so-called “global warming.” From across the political spectrum, the pseudo-science consensus about “global warming” is challenged. On the so-called “right,” Rush Limbaugh ridicules the idea. On the so-called “left,” Alexander Cockburn asserts, “There is still zero empirical evidence that anthropogenic production of carbon dioxide is making any measurable contribution to the world's present warming trend.” (“Is Global Warming A Sin?” Nation magazine, May 14, 2007)
Astrophysicist Piers Corbyn (op. cit.) also “totally rejects the carbon dioxide-based theory of global warming and climate change.” In light of past speculation by Conspiracy Nation, Corbyn's ideas on the weather are noteworthy.
In “Bring Back The 'Weather Babes'” (http://www.shout.net/~bigred/WeatherBabe.html), the idea of an astrological-meteorological connection was broached. Reading general daily horoscopes written by Mark Lerner, it was noticed how certain planetary aspects seemed to coincide with weather events.
As far back as 1894, Nikola Tesla had announced that “rays from space” were bombarding earth. A "solar efflux" bombards the earth with electric potential which permeates the ground. This chimes with earlier theories of General A.J. Pleasonton, specifically his claim that earth is heated not by the sun, per se, but via the impact of light and the earth. (See “Al Gore, Man Of Science,” http://www.shout.net/~bigred/GoreScience.html). Pleasonton also theorized the earth itself as a source of heat. (It is, after all, “Mother Earth.”) For example, experiments conducted during the winter of 1872-73, for four successive days, yielded puzzling results. Outside, above a layer of snow, the temperature one day measured 14 degrees below zero (Fahrenheit). But “immediately beneath the snow in contact with the earth, it was ten degrees above zero; being an increase of twenty-four degrees of temperature, occasioned by a covering of the earth with four inches of snow; and under a drift of snow two feet deep the temperature was twenty-seven degrees above zero; making an increase of temperature at the earth's surface under two feet of snow, of forty-one degrees of Fahrenheit over the temperature of the air just above the upper surface of the snow.” (The Influence Of The Blue Ray Of The Sunlight And Of The Blue Color Of The Sky, by General A.J. Pleasonton. 1876. Reprint available from http://www.kessinger.net).
|
Temperature immediately above snow |
Minus 14 degrees Fahrenheit |
|
Temperature beneath four inches of snow |
10 degrees Fahrenheit |
|
Temperature beneath two feet of snow |
27 degrees Fahrenheit |
We have here temperatures being greater beneath the snow and shielded from the sun's “heat.” This suggests heat being generated by the earth itself.
Corbyn (op. cit.) uses solar activity to forecast the weather. The solar cycle, or the solar magnetic activity cycle, is the dynamical engine and energy source behind all solar phenomena driving space weather. (“Solar Cycle”, Wikipedia, June 9, 2007.) Climate scientists are interested in understanding what, if any, effect variations in solar activity have on the temperature of Earth's atmosphere. “The combination of solar variation and volcanic effects has very likely been the cause of some climate change, for example during the Maunder Minimum.” (“Solar Variation”, Wikipedia, June 9, 2007.) Corbyn has found “a certain connection, a certain predictability” regarding “connections between solar activity (that is, sunspots) and the weather.”
We are now, says Corbyn (op. cit.), leaving the peak of the latest solar cycle, which occurred in 2002-2003. Use of traditional “computer modeling” to predict the weather has reached its limits. “No amount of improved computer power will get past the really basic climate inputs.” And corroborating Ms. Baker's (op. cit.) claim of a financial “Biofuels Bubble,” Corbyn asserts, “[O]ur financial services industry run[s] on fear. They want to carry on trading carbon and energy and so on, running on fear.”
