-- What exactly is "matter"? The Thrice-Great One, Hermes Trismegistus,
is on-record as saying, "The whole of matter's quality is to be
creative. Just as there is a fertile quality in the nature of matter,

Someone calling himself Empedocles reportedly has stated that "the
constitution of the world is of necessity such that Love and Strife
alternately predominate and cause motion, while in the intermediate
period of time there is a state of rest." This "motion" is the key to
answering "What is 'matter?'" Sitting under the tree, waiting for the
apple to fall, Isaac Newton arrived at this: "Here am I, at rest under
the tree. Yet true motion and rest can be understood only with
reference to motionless places, and hence to absolute space." These
thoughts led to questions of what causes motion and force, which led to
"mass." What is "motion?" That which affects mass. "What is mass?" That
which is affected by motion.
On May 11th, in the Los Angeles region, a black body occupied by
15-year-old Dominic Redd ran from three Latino bodies occupied by
persons unknown. Did the fleeing Dominic Redd body exert a force which
pulled the three Latino bodies after it? Or did the three Latino bodies
exert a force which pushed the Dominic Redd body away? By Newton's
"third law" of action and reaction, both sets of bodies reacted
upon each other. We know that, by Newton's "second law," all bodies
inherently contain "force." These forces of mass (matter) acting upon
each other caused motion in the bodies. Eventually the two sets of
bodies, in motion and tending to stay in motion (see Newton's "first
law") collided, thereby halting the motions. In Dominic Redd's case,
his body collided with knives and achieved a condition of rest.
Positing a third force largely unnoticed in the Redd and other
incidents, Western Regional Minister Tony Muhammad of the Nation of
Islam loosely defined it as "our 400-year-old enemy" (400 YOE).
In Tony Muhammad's theory, like the planet Jupiter, 400 YOE exerts
subtle yet powerful force. (See "Residents fight to contain brewing

Since unfortunately Tony Muhammad is remiss in defining 400 YOE,
conjecture is he means Isaac Newton, born roughly 400 years ago. If
this is what is meant by 400 YOE, Tony Muhammad errs, since the
theorized plot to impose artificial laws of physics as a scheme to
define "reality" properly began 2300 years ago. Thus, "400 YOE" is more
accurately 2300 YOE.
This phenomena of colliding bodies in the Los Angeles region has
been escalating in recent weeks, according to a Los Angeles Times
report dated May 27th. ("Another Brawl at Jefferson High," by Nicholas
Shields and Rong-Gong Lin II) As in the Redd incident, noteworthy is
that brown bodies (Latinos) and black bodies (Blacks) seem to be first
in motion towards bodies of the same color followed by some "nuclear
force" which propels the two respective masses into collision with each
other. "Like with the last two fights, it happened that brown people,
they go to one side, then black people they go to the other side, and
then they both collide," stated one observer. (Los Angeles Times
article, op. cit.) At the moment of collision, the two sets of bodies
(or "masses") exchange energies. Here we have a distinct circumstance,
with Isaac Newton not having theorized upon the effect which color
might have in his famous Force = Mass x Acceleration (F=ma) equation.
(In a humorous aside, related to Newton's "third law" of action and
reaction, John Adams, arguing for stasis (rest) via opposing Houses of
Congress, is said to have made the following quip: "Mr. [Benjamin]
Franklin has forgotten one of Sir Isaac Newton's laws of motion,
namely, 'that reaction must always be equal or contrary to action, or
there can never be any rest.'")
John Adam's humorous quip conceals, like most humor, a kernel of
truth. In this time of division between Democrats and Republicans in
the U.S. Congress, their actions and reactions become neutralizing
forces giving us all some rest. But inevitably there are changes in
motion. The huge body known as Jupiter, having been in retrograde
motion these past several months, reverses course and goes into direct
motion on Sunday, June 5th. How will such a change of motion in this
monolithic body affect the other bodies? Empedocles, as already noted,
stated that "the constitution of the world is of necessity such that
Love and Strife
alternately predominate and cause motion, while in the intermediate
period of time there is a state of rest." Let's hope that, come Sunday,
the Strife will cease, we'll get some rest, and then Love will
predominate.
