Image: Scary nurses of 1918 flu panic. Apologies if link has expired.(Melchizedek Communique, MC011910) "Oops. Sorry about that," the World Health Organization (WHO) seems to say in its latest statement on the so-called "swine flu."

Back in April of 2009, the WHO was saying, "We are very, very concerned. We have what appears to be a novel virus and it has spread from human to human ... It's all hands on deck at the moment." [1]

Mexico City was on edge, and WHO officials warned about an epicenter of a global epidemic. Mexican soldiers and health workers patrolled airports and bus stations, looking for people showing symptoms. [2]

"Is this the big one?" asked Associated Press Medical Writer Mike Stobbe. [3]

On April 25, 2009, the mysterious Sorcha Faal, relying on her amazing secret sources, confided: "Disturbing reports are emerging from the Kremlin today detailing what many Russian scientists believe is a biological attack upon the North American continent initiated by members of Mexican drug cartels operating in concert with al Qaeda cells linked to Pakistan who have unleashed as an yet 'unknown' influenza type virus reported to have killed at least 150 in Mexico and now being reported in the US States of Texas, California and New York." [4]

Then, in the midst of these fears, one of Barack Obama's presidential planes flew alarmingly low over New York city, sending residents into a panic and triggering fears of a new 9/11. [5]

Wayne Madsen informed his readers, "According to two mainstream media journalists, one in Mexico City and the other in Jakarta, who spoke to WMR [Wayne Madsen Report] on background, they are convinced that the current outbreak of a new strain of swine flu in Mexico and some parts of the United States is the result of the introduction of a human-engineered pathogen that could result in a widespread global pandemic, with potentially catastrophic consequences for domestic and international travel and commerce."

It was "a new panic du jour," observed Wesley Pruden. "We were all supposed to be in the graveyard by now, done in by AIDS, SARS, bird flu, poisoned peanut butter, Hong Kong flu, killer tomatoes, global warming and strangulation by kudzu... Sample these latest headlines from the Drudge Report: 'Two flu cases confirmed in Scotland. Has globalization made us more catastrophe-prone? Swine flu sweeps the globe. Swine flu closes football stadiums. The world must work together against this threat.'" [6]

But now, after the brass bands have paraded by trumpeting "Really Scary Stuff!", the "Street Sweeper News" appears. With not nearly the brouhaha of the April 2009 "swine flu" reports, the Street Sweeper, between cigar puffs, informs us, "Hey, mac, false alarm." As of January 18, 2010, the Director-General of the World Health Organization, Margaret Chan, says the H1N1 Swine Flu Pandemic is not as serious as anticipated. [7]
