(Melchizedek Communique, MC123009) (Dateline: Champaign, Illinois) In this small cosmopolitan city located in America's heartland, incidents of the "evil eye" are on the rise.

The evil eye, also known as "malocchio," is "the power, superstitiously attributed to certain persons, of inflicting injury or bad luck by such a look." It is believed that some people can bestow a curse on victims by the malevolent gaze of their magical eye. In 1946, the American magician Henri Gamache published a text called Terrors of the Evil Eye Exposed! (later reprinted as Protection against Evil). "Gamache's work brought evil eye beliefs to the attention of African American voodoo practitioners in the Southern United States." [1]

It is known that Chicago mobster Sam Giancana, as a youth, would spend hours before the mirror practicing this same "evil eye" look. "Mad Sam" DeStefano of Chicago at times was noticed to have his eyes bulge accompanied by an evil smile.

And so, African American voodoo and Chicago organized crime are wrapped up in this "evil eye" technique.

During his routine walks in this city now under "cabin fever" pressure, the Melchizedek Communique editor often encounters "the brothers" who seem to have been, like Sam Giancana, practicing the "evil eye" in front of mirrors. "Hey, man... Can I get a cigarette off you?" is a usual pretext for eye contact. But then will be unleashed the evil eye, right here in Champaign, Illinois!

It happened again, only yesterday! "Hey, man..." said an utter stranger to this editor, as he was about to enter a CVS store to purchase "Giant Jellies" and "Professor Sparkle cleaning products." Of course, in politeness, this editor halted and awaited further inquiry. "Where is the Marketplace?" asked "the brother." But this was only the pretext. Again occurred an incident of the "evil eye."

Only persons accustomed to walking the streets of this city-on-the-edge can know how it is. Most, who isolate themselves in vehicles, will have no idea. But just walk around this town on a daily basis and you will notice rises and falls of "the brothers", their spontaneous inquiries, and an accompanying malevolent gaze.

Another general "trouble spot" is reported to be the parking lots of Walmart stores. They are said to be "a battlefield where every imaginable crime occurs, from purse-snatching to rape, to murder." But allegedly the phenomena of "the Wal-Mart War Zone" is being vastly under-reported. [2] And, of course, beyond the boundary of discussion would be any "evil eye" occurrences.

Now, with the "cabin fever" and the cold weather, do not expect too much more than "evil eye" incidents. But in March, "Pater Sadic" (Melchizedek/Mars) again crosses the line of adjustment. (On Sunday, December 20, at 7:27AM CST, Mars went from direct to retrograde motion. Mars will remain in reverse until March 10, 2010.) Coincident to this, in March also the so-called "Federal" Reserve begins to "tighten the noose" on the money supply. How long will people keep believing that "prosperity is just around the corner"? And who else, besides "the brothers," are restless?
