The house, conceived as a tree house centered around one eight inch square hemlock column as tree trunk, is 24 feet square. For pine beams radiate from the center column to the four corners of the house providing structure for the two loft floors. At the roof, three exposed beams radiate from the column to support the gables.
The house is made of cedar, pine, poplar, mahogany and hemlock, and was constructed over three summers and a winter. Villa Steve earned this studio a design award from the Buffalo/Western New York Chapter of the American Institute of Architects.
