Campaign Organizers Needed!

The Graduate Employees' Organization, AFT Local 6300, at the
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign seeks 2 temporary union organizers to assist in membership/activist recruitment and action implementation.

Required: Experienced and effective face-to-face organizer, able to hit the ground running. Should work closely with, and help invigorate, our existing activist base. Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to work with diverse populations.

Duration: These 2 positions are for 8 weeks between August 7, 2006 and
September 29, 2006

Additional Qualifications:
Preferred characteristics, skills, and experience: knowledge and familiarity with universities and graduate employee concerns, strong time-management skills, initiative, and commitment to the labor movement. GEO is an AA/EEO employer; women and people of color are strongly encouraged to apply.

Pay: Pay will be approximately $7000 for the 8 weeks.
