The Line Search 1 X 3 (1 By Three) allows a single outbound only calling data device to automatically search for an open telephone line from a pool of up to three existing telephone lines. The Line Search will then issue an off-hook busy signal to the telephone line it is using to transmit over as barge-in protection. This is vitally important to protect valuable transmissions from being lost. Once the data transmission has completed, the Line Search will restore dial tone to that telephone line.

The Line Search must be installed at the telephone company's interface into the building. It can be set up to search up to three telephone lines of an electronic telephone system, three separate dedicated telephone lines, or any combination of both. Power losses will only cause power loss to the data device that searches and not to the telephone lines themselves.


APPLICATIONS


Credit Card Terminals:

All outbound only calling POS credit card terminal (such as most Verifone POS terminals) transmissions only last 15-20 seconds per verification. The most transactions a retailer can authorize in an hour's time is 20-25 transactions. That total usage is 5-6 minutes, leaving an expensive dedicated telephone line dormant a minimum of 54 out of every 60 minutes a day.

Check Verification Terminals:

These are also used the same way as standard credit card terminals. Their usage, however, is usually less in most cases.

Debit Card Terminals:

These are a new resource for payment by using a credit card to withdraw payment from your checking account. Usage is very small.

Credit Reporting Terminal:

Anyone that does credit reports(auto dealers, mortgage lenders, etc) uses one of these. These reports take a very short period of time, usually under one minute per report, and will also redial if line is in use by another device.

Computer Modems:

Any outbound modem, depending on how long each transmission time takes, can take advantage of the Line Search. Realtors use modems for multiple listings and I'll also bet you're dialing out to access this page too, aren't you?
