Champaign, IL August, 2006
"Search For the Mammoth Tiger Tank"
Meeting #1 took place at member Craig O'Neill's house in Champaign, August, 2006. This meeting was all about R/C--BIG 1/6th scale R/C. Craig is more a collector of big 1/6th military vehicles than he is of GIJoe figures. In fact, he admits he actually prefers the higher level of detail found in figures from Dragon and BBi over GIJoes. But what he lacks in figures he more than makes up for in his huge collection of VEHICLES.
Craig loves controlling these big 1/6th scale beasties over land and water. He's currently working on several projects similtaneously, and since I know far less about these vehicles than he does, I'll let these pictures do most of the talking. Fortunately for everyone who missed this meeting, Craig has kindly offered to host many more meetings in the future. So if you didn't get to see his workshop and vehicles this time, don't worry. There WILL be more opportunities to do so.
In addition, Craig has offered to host a meeting demonstrating the techniques and methods he employs while creating these masterpiece conversions. He works extensively with plastic, metal and all types of mechanical apparatus. It should be quite interesting. I know I sat there slack-jawed for over two hours, simply amazed at what he's been doing.
