I got my first GIjOE in 1967 for Christmas...

...and have enjoyed collecting them ever since. Whenever a new one would appear on the shelves, I knew I had to have it and my mother would always give in and buy it for me (bless her). As a kid, I had the original Action Soldier (see me and my buddy in the photo above), one of the Talking Pilots, the first Adventure Team guy with a beard and one without,.

In addition, I had the Joes with a Kung-Fu grip, Mike Powers, many accessory and uniform sets, and even the mighty 5-star Jeep. The last GIjOE I remember buying as a kid was the so-called "Super Joe." I had ordered him from the Sears catalog (remember those days?) and didn't notice his small size and was of course, VERY disappointed to find out that he was only an 8-inch action figure.

As I grew into my teens, my Joes received a lot less of my attention (as girls received more). When I moved out to start my adult life, I gave all my joes to some younger cousins (a decision I still regret to this day). And as time passed, I noticed that Joes were getting even smaller still. Nothing against the 3/4" collectors, but I just don't care for those tiny Joes.

Eventually, when my son was born, the GIjOE fever hit me again. One day, I found a couple of vintage Joes at a flea market, and by then, there were new 12-inch Joes being sold in stores again. This started my son collecting, and I'm glad to say he enjoys them today as much as I do. Together, we've started a big GIjOE display area and are trying to build better backgrounds at this time, so it's always a work in progress. Enjoy the photos!

Let's take a GOOD look at the figures in JT's collection:

JT's cool use of backgrounds proves how effective such a simple idea can be. Superb!

Wow! JT's got Ernie Pyle, MacArthur, JFK and 2 MOH winners, all in one diorama. Quite an historical gathering!

Again, simple props and backgrounds quickly create a cool, believable diorama setup. Great job, guys.

That's quite a storm. Look out for the rocks!

Whoa. All you have to do is hang this baby from the ceiling and you're good to go. FANTASTIC!

Oh yeah. Now we're talking ACTION. Look at him clean out that howitzer.

That storm is still wreaking havoc on JT's sailors. Cool looking shot.

Simple use of props, creating a great impression of these guys busting through the woods. Sharp!

This is one of the greatest GIjOE vehicles ever made. It looks great just sitting there. WOW.

HERE ARE SOME MORE ACTION CLOSEUPS:

This Engineer (or SeeBee) is working on clearing the woods to prepare for demolition.

STUNNING Police Harley complete with saddlebags, lights, etc. And check out his uniform. YES!

Great action pose, JT. Bad boys, watcha gunna do?

Here's a great example of creative use of props. That "ladder" is just some sort of old rack, but it looks PERFECT!

Simply place some big rocks in a semi-circle, and you're ready to guard your perimeter. Great collection JT!

And Don't Miss...
