Welcome to the amazing
collection of I started collecting
1:6 scale action figures in 2007...
My collection covers many genres including: (1) WW2 military personnel (including privates and officers of Germany, US, UK, China and Russia), (2) Modern military forces (Hong Kong, mainland China, US, UK and USSR), (3) Political figures (US presidents and government leaders, Chinese and Russian leaders), (4) Astronauts (from Mercury through Apollo to the Shuttle Program), (5) International movie characters, (6) Hong Kong pop stars, and (7) Japanese samurai and comic icons. About 75% of my collection are box sets from the famed manufacturers around the globe including: Hasbro, Enterbay, Hot Toys, Dragon, Sideshow, Dragon-in-Dream (DID), Alfrex, Medicom Toy, In The Past Toys (ITPT), BBI, Soldier Story, ACI, Toy Soldier, How2Work, CY Girl, Talking Presidents, Exclusive Premiere, Kenner, Daron and Kings Toys. Except for one or two pieces, my figures are all new, not vintage items, as I cannot afford the prohibitive prices for such. The other 25% are "kitbashed."
I've taken photographs of EACH of my figures in various poses. By the end of 2011, I will have almost 500 private albums of my collections, totaling more than 40,000 photos! This is an average of about 200 photos for each figure. Sometimes, I take short video clips of my collections by putting them on an electronic display turntable and by adding background music. This witnessed the synergy of total satisfaction derived from the triangulation of figure collection, creativity and macro-photography.
All my figures are displayed in glass cabinets or tailor-made plastic display cases with dust-guards. About 70 figures are displayed in plastic cases at my office while the rest are displayed at home. I used to keep the original package boxes but not anymore. The maximum number of boxes I kept by late 2009 was about 160. Owing to over-crowdedness, I disposed of most packages in late 2010 when I moved to a new flat. Besides, I have a limited collection of some 30 2.5-inch tin soldiers of WW2 from King & Country, a few 1:8 mini action figures from pop movies and TV series and some military airplanes / spaceships of various scales.
My interest in collecting 1:6 action figures
is a byproduct of my hobbies of movie-watching and assembling
model kits. I have been assembling model kits since my teenage
years and have been a regular movie-goer for over the last 10
years. I hope I can extend my collections and find more joys
in this hobby in the future.
