My name is Chris
Benson and I'm a "plasticcrack" addict!
That is, I love my GIjOEs. I have been collecting since 1992.
It all started at a swap meet in my home town of Fresno, CA.
I picked up a vintage 1965 GIjOE for $0.75 cents. It was in great
condition and it reminded me of my childhood when my father would
buy my brother and me Joes and accessories for our birthdays
and Christmas.
Now I'm 48 years old and I have over 350 figures
and 35 vehicles. My collection consists of vintage Joes plus
others from new manufactures such as Dragon, BBI, Sideshow Toys,
Hot Toys, ACE, Toy Soldier etc. My main collection is based around
WWII and Vietnam.
As I began to build my collection, I noticed that there were
very few options when it came to 1/6 scale vehicles. Hasbro had
a few and 21st Century Toys followed with a few of their own.
In 2002, my father and I began making our own 1/6th scale trucks
for my troops. We unveiled our first "Deuce and a Half "
at the 2003 Weekend of Heroes show. It was a soft cab,
cargo/troop carrier truck that was a great success for us. Since
that time, we've custom built over 45 of these trucks in many
variations. WWII and Modern Soft cab, Closed cab, Truck and Trailers
etc.
This hobby has been a blessing to me personally and is my way
of dealing with everything else in life. It is my joy. I hope
you like the pictures of my collection and those of our custom
trucks.
Thanks! --Chris Benson
