I started RE-collecting
GIjOE about 1995...
It began when my mom asked me to assist her in cleaning up her
house so as to get it ready for sale. She wanted all of our old
childhood toys, etc. taken out in order to do this. While helping,
I came across several of the original, vintage Adventure Team
and Action Soldier figures that I had owned as a kid! As an AT
era kid, I had played with more of that lineup of Joes, but my
older cousin had given me some of his military era Action Soldier
Joes and kits as well.
This unexpected discovery from my childhood
relit the memories and enjoyment that I had gotten out of GIjOE
as a kid and sparked a desire to start collecting again, especially
for the figures and sets that I didn t have.
I started with 5 of my original Joes and
their accessories and I am now currently at a total of 53 Joes
including 9 AT figures in their original boxes, several of the
larger playsets (Mummy's Tomb, Training Center Tower, MSV, Troubleshooter,
AT helicopter) and a great representation of the branches of
the service that Hasbro offered during the 1964-69 era.
Many of us collectors say that we wished we had kept all of the
original packaging and not put our Joes through quite so many
backyard adventures, but without doing that, we wouldn't have
created all the great memories that we now possess. Nowadays,
I use a plexiglass display case (shown above) to show and store
the Joes in my collection. The case has built-in adjustable lighting
and even a door that locks. Thanks for the opportunity to display
my collection, Mark. I hope everyone enjoys the pictures.

Take a long look. That's right. It's ALL vintage. WOW! Look at
the great condition of these figures.
Doug tells us..."There are four levels contained in my display
case. There's an AT level, a SOTW and Cadets level,
a four service branch level and finally a boxed / vehicle AT
level."

It just keeps getting better. Look at these figures. FANTASTIC
lineup, Doug.

These original boxes still have great color and create a beautiful
backdrop for Doug's ATV and Troubleshooter vehicles.

Pull back and you see what the whole case looks like. Roomy,
durable, well-lit (and dust-free). SUPERB!

OK, let's take some of the figures out of the case for a closer
look. How many of you own an original Breeches Buoy or LSO figure?

All original soldiers, green beret and ALCOM mountain snow trooper
with unbroken ORIGINAL skipoles. FANTASTIC!

Semper Fi! What a nice lineup of marines. The medic is fully
equiped and looks ready to go!

Of course, what collection is complete without a great lineup
of Air Force figures? The crash crew set is always a crowd pleaser.

Ooooh yeah! This talking AT commander and his men of action look
ready for many MORE adventures!

All three of these guys have KUNG-FU GRIP! Hey Doug, put these
guys to work. They crave adventure!

Original AT figures are hard enough to find in good condition,
but their BOXES are even more difficult. NICE.

Finally, Doug's lineup of vintage SOTW figures, aka the "FIGHTING
MEN OF THE WORLD!"
