Welcome to the amazing Action Man and AT GIjOE collection of

I was born in the UK. I received my first Action Man back in 1966; a Combat Soldier. As you probably know, these were direct copies of the American GIjOE's lineup up until 1970, when Action Man came into his own.

I continued to play with AM as I moved from England to Scotland, and even to Malaysia. One day, I must have been going on about 13, I suddenly realized I was still playing with a toy, and disgusted, just threw them all away!

In the mid 1990s, I found a book on Action Man on a visit back to London, and my interest was rekindled. I recalled all the great times I had playing with AM as a boy. Not long after that, the HOF LE came out, followed by the Classic Collection, and I was off to the races.

Unfortunately, these were unsatisfactory to actually play with, so I started looking around for vintage GIjOEs, which I figured would do until I could get my hands on some Action Men. Well, I really enjoyed the AT Joes I found, and soon amassed quite a collection. Then I found eBay, and the rest is history! I don't know how many AM I now have now, over 200 for sure, but who's counting?

I like to travel with my AM, and take pics of them all over the world. I use what is known as "forced perspective" to create a lifesize feel to them in some instances. As an artist & educator I use this both as a source of income, and to illustrate to my high school students that you can be childlike, without being childish. I hope you enjoy my pics, I certainly enjoy taking them! --HH
