custom figures and vehicles of
I had a bunch of GIjOEs as a kid, but my Mom gave 'em away while I was in the Army. I got back into collecting in the late 1990s when the 12" line began to really come back. Back then, I was entering model building competitions, so it just seemed natural to do the same to my Joe stuff. Nowadays, I collect mostly modern military figures and vehicles since that was my era of service. I don't have a "GIjOE Room" per say, but I still customize almost everything I own and in fact, I rarely have a stock figure. I never leave anything "stock," as I like to try to put in as much detail as I can. Eventually, people noticed my customized Joes and wanted to know where I got them. That led me to building custom items for other collectors. Nothing big. A rifle here, an upgrade to a helo there, etc. These days, I still collect and customize, but it's on a more limited scale. My work (in private security) keeps me out of the house too much to do anything but "thin out the herd," so to speak, and to make room for future stuff (whenever time allows).
