Welcome to the amazing 1/6th scale Pointe du Hoc Ranger diorama and collection of
Jim Cox
Owner: Jim Cox, Carthage, TX, Email: djcox11@sbcglobal.net, Website: n/a

I was born and raised in Carthage, Texas.

My grandfather was a pharmacist here in Carthage for 50 years which inspired my present occupation. I have been "dealing drugs" myself now for 33 years. My mother and dad were both watchmakers and attended watch college in Elgin, Illinois. They returned to Carthage in 1947 and owned and operated Cox's Jewelry on the downtown square.

My dad was a WW2 veteran, served in the 79th infantry division, was a tech sergeant and platoon leader, earned the bronze star and purple heart in Normandy, and was/is my hero. He was a very kind and gentle gentleman in the truest sense of the word. I grew up at his feet watching my favorite TV series, yep, you guessed it COMBAT!

I played with little plastic army men until the greatest invention of the 20th century came out in 1964, yep, right again--GIjOE! I got my first Marine for Christmas in 1964 and then a Soldier for my birthday in March, 1965. I went on to add to my collection the SOTW series including the Japanese Imperial Soldier, German Stormtrooper, French Resistance Fighter and the Australian Jungle Fighter , all of which I still have all today.

I have added around 500 figures since 1964 and love anything to do with WW2 history, especially the European Theater. Below, you'll see pictures of our "War Room," where, with the help of my lovely wife Kelly, we constructed a 1/6th scale diorama of the Ranger assault on Pointe du Hoc on D-Day.

In addition to GIjOEs, I also have many 1:1 scale collectibles from the WW2 era, one daughter (Paula), and two "sons" (i.e. golden retrievers) Sam and Woody. Woody was named after my Dad, T.Sgt George Woodrow Cox.

We enjoy our life in small town America, aka Carthage, Texas. if you would like more information, see my facebook page and friend request me. Anyway, I hope this gives you some idea of who I am and why I love 1:6 scale action figures and diorama construction. Oh, and by the way, I have an extreme interest in long range shooting and my favorite historical figure and hero is Gunnery Sergeant Carlos N. Hathcock, II. if you don't know who he is, pick you up a copy of the book, MARINE SNIPER. it is a fabulous story of a true American Hero. Semper Fi, Carlos!

Whoa! This looks REAL, Jim. That Ranger's workin' hard to get up the cliff (without gettin' killed). GO RANGERS!

Hoo yeah...this sergeant's not going to wait any longer. He's going to launch a rifle-propelled grenade NOW!

And this Army Sniper has the German officer already in his sights. Get him, sharpshooter!

This angle shows you what Jim's going for here...these guys are working as a TEAM.
That Captain's got real guts too, charging into the teeth of a nest of Nazis!

Uh-oh...It's hard to say, but I don't think that Engineer was able to get his Pole Charge all the way into position before...Well,
rest in peace, soldier. And be assured, one of your buddies will pick up that load of TNT and blow the bunker wide open!
(Keep in mind Jim BUILT all of this cool stuff. Look at that bunker. WOW!)

Just in time! Reinforcements are pressing the attack. Say goodnight, "Jerry." This bunker's busted!

Yup. Casualties are coming in quickly now. The tide of this battle has turned for good.
Look at the detail in this aid station set-up. Fantastic job, Jim!

This Fallshirmjager paratrooper is landing right in the middle of the fighting. But he may not even make it to the ground alive.

From the reverse angle, you can see the inside of the bunker. Looks like this group had it pretty good.
Check out all the details: radios, binoculars, posters, flag, rations, etc. Superb!

These two haven't given up yet. The spotter continues to bark out commands to the gunner.
Check out all the shell casings, and the periscope binoculars. So cool!

The officer in charge has been backed into a corner with only a Luger and his faithful German Shepherd to protect him.
Will he give up? Or will he die defending his God-forsaken cement and stone fortress? Only Jim knows for sure!
