Saludos desde Venezuela!

Please raise your hand and repeat after me: "Yo soy un fiel admirador de los GIjOE!! That means, "I am a loyal fan of GIjOE!"

I live in Caracas (Venezuela's capital) and devote myself to finding other collectors via the internet so as to admire their collections and learn from them.

I began collecting GIjOEs after visiting toy stores looking for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles toys for our newborn. Over time, I saw the new "HALL OF FAME" GIjOEs and fell in love! It was like a crush! When I saw them, so many memories of my childhood in the 1960s and 70s immediately came to mind. I remembered how much I enjoyed myself with my childhood friends, playing in the garden of our house building camps and shelters with my 12" Joes and their accessories.

I started buying the new "HALL OF FAME" Joes, always with the intent that they were to be for my little son. But...well, you know. Then I bought the all-terrain "Rhino GPV" Jeep in the same series, which I still have today. I was also lucky enough to buy GIjOEs in another smaller scale (3 3/4"). Although in truth, I never had the luck to see the cartoons back in the 1980s. But, since the "damage" was done, of course I had to have them all!

I'm also a collector of other brands of action figures and the enjoy retracing the history of old, industrial toys. I collect all kinds of toys from the past and more recent times including Hot Wheels, Star Wars, battery-operated cars, robots and much more. I wanted to add my collection to the GIjOE Collections website for the enjoyment of other collectors.

I admit that I am not very knowledgeable about each and every figure and in fact sometimes, I have trouble recognizing the characters in the GIjOE line, despite owning three books on the history of Joes and other action figures.

Of course, I know very well that a true collector of GIjOE figures is not just any ordinary person. First, you have to be very dedicated. Then, you must have the time and desire to collect and display your collection, and that's just not easy for everyone. A collector must be someone like me, determined and very patient.

Once I said, "I prefer a single GIjOE over TEN Star Wars figures." If you asked me why, I would tell you that here in Venezuela, it is much more difficult to be a serious and genuine collector of the acclaimed GIjOE. As in other Latin American countries, it is VERY hard to find these figures. And even shopping through the "easier" route of the internet is not always a good idea. The postal system in our country is really very hard to work with and not that helpful. For these reasons, I think that there are very few of us in this country who have the dedication to seek, obtain and collect this great action figure. Completing just one GIjOE is a big challenge and sometimes a long-term goal. But if you want to, then you too can become a collector of the best fun action figure that has ever existed--GIjOE!

Hey Mark! This is a beautiful website with excellent and beautiful collections. Thank you for adding mine. Saludos desde Venezuela!
