I'm into ALL 12-inch action
figure toys, as long as they
look cool or have a cool theme to them. As a kid, I had Big Jim,
the 6 Million Dollar Man and of course, GIjOE. Joe really stuck
with me though because he had all the neat vehicles and equipment
sets, and every kid I knew at the time was also a fan of Joe.
I received my first GIjOE collection from my brother when I was
12. He was moving out at the time and passed them on to me. Of
course, my friends and I proceeded to destroy most of them. I
remember when GIjOE was originally canceled (by Hasbro) and seeing
all of the equipment sets at stores on clearance racks. Oh, to
know then what I know now!
I got back into collecting in the early 90's. Partly because
of nostalgia for my childhood toys and partly because the first
ones were given to me by my brother. The first GIjOE I bought
was a carded Atomic Man found in Toy Shop Magazine. Much of my
stuff came out of that magazine and off of eBay.
I'm strictly an AT collector, and I use
a big old jewelry case to display the "cream of the crop"
items, plus some assorted bookshelves for the rest. I would love
to find another jewelry case, but I have no place to put it,
so...
Since I've been collecting, I've joined
the GIjOE club, which is a very cool organization. I've been
to one convention (which was awesome) and I have a lot of fun
"treasure hunting" (as I call it) for my favorite childhood
toy. Hope you all like my pics.
Thanks! ---Malt Peregoy

"These are two of my
favorite vehicle sets. The Mummy's Tomb set is complete, but
I wish the box was a little better. And one of the A.M. reissues
(great work on those). I use open bookcases for display, so I
have to control the dust problem."

"Here are some of my
boxed figures, plus a muscle body commander which was restrung
by the Medic. It's a nice figure, I just need to get his voice
box redone. Hiding among them is an Unknown soldier (another
cool figure). I never had a Training Tower as a kid, but it's
a neat set (mine's complete minus the snake). The Seawolf submarine
wasn't a favorite of mine as a kid, but I wanted it now anyway
(it's complete in an excellent box). The box for the Action Soldier
on the bottom shelf was signed by Sam Speers, Don Strivers, and
Sam Petrucci (I hope I spelled that right) at the 2004 national
convention!"

"The Desert Patrol set
is complete. The Avenger aircraft is mint in its box. Even its
decals are still mint on their original sheet! On the bottom-left
is the national convention set from 2006. I replaced the figure
with a vintage."

"These are some of the
'cream' of my collection: Two never-played-with AT helicopters
(decal sheets still complete) and the Capture copter was still
sealed but I removed the cellophane (dummy, I know)."

"More of the cream...a
boxed Black Widow set (but the box is a little crushed) and a
Fate of the Troubleshooter set (the talker box works now, thank
you Medic)."
