My collecting story starts back in 1985 when KB Toys had a big 1/2-off sale. My mom bought me one of everything including all the 3 3/4" GIjOEs, the cobra dudes and all of the vehicles. Skip forward to 1989, my little brother is born and you could say goodbye to all the little joes (lol). Between '99 and '03, (when I was in the United States Marine Corps), I began to buy up all the 12' GIjOEs and Ultimate Soldier figures that I could find. I collected all types, and nowadays I have a little bit of everything including Marines, Navy, and WW2 German. However, the prize of my collection isn't a GIjOE at all, it's the amazing "Sands of Iwo Jima" John Wayne figure from Sideshow Toys. I waited over 6 months to get it!

Lately, I have just been buying gear and equipment and my sister sent me some real sand from Africa, because I'm working on an Afrika Korps diorama. I also have a lot of "real people" figures including the Jimmy Doolittle, Audie Murphy, rough rider Teddy Roosevelt, General Patton and Gunny Ermey. Yes, I have a room in the house that I call the "Joe Room," but my wife calls it the--look out now-- "Babydoll Room."

Sorry if I'm rambling on, but this is my hobby AND my passion. Hell, I even made a Carlos Hathcock sniper figure, with "real" grease paint on his face. All in all, I have about 300 figures now, and about 275 are all together and complete. Semper Fi

Roberts collection has a very ACTIVE look to it. Many of his figures are posed, holding and pointing weapons, dropping from a parachute, etc. He uses basic shelving and cool militaria items like flags, photos, caps, etc. as background items, giving his Joe room a very military feel. Nice job, Robert!

Here's a closeup of his police, MPs, firemen and other emergency personnel Joes. Cool!

WW2 Germans are well represented, but not overly so. This group looks VERY sharp.

Some figures remain boxed, with the packaging graphics aimed out toward the viewer. Check out that cool Marine on the right hand side with TWIN .45s!

Can you tell Robert was in the Marine Corps? Semper Fi!
