Greetings from Cincinnati!
Our club is the Sixth
Scale Collectors Club in Cincinnati, Ohio, and for those
who don't know, we host a 1/6th scale show twice a year (once
in June, then again in November). We're always looking for vendors
who might wish to attend, and our rates are the cheapest you
will ever find for any show or Con (plug-plug). If you are interested,
please contact our club at the email above. Any admission "fees"
collected always go directly to the museums we work with, with
never a dime to us.
The photos on this page are just a few
of the many custom figures, vehicles, buildings and dioramas
our club members have created over the years for display in schools
and at various shows. They are all very impressive scratch built
or heavily modified factory-made 1/6th items.
As you know, dioramas come and go, and
some of the items shown no longer exist exactly as you see them.
Examples like the WW2 European home used as an allied headquarters,
and the farmer with his "reaper" (both shown below)
have either been disassembled or altered. The reaper, by the
way is the oldest 1/6th scale model in the Lebanon Museum. It
was found just laying around! One of our members added the horse
and operator to it just for the August SSHMS show, removing them
after the event. Now, only the machine itself remains. (Too bad!)
The photo of the amazing "Turtle"
(right) shows an amazing 1/6th scale, handmade, custom built
model of the first US built submersible used to spy on the British
during the Revolutionary War. The man that built this model isn't
"officially" in our club, but we've had a good relationship
with him over the years. He told us the ship he was on during
WW2 was sunk when it was hit with 4 torpedoes fired from a German
U-boat! Doctors thought he would die from the complications of
being adrift in that oil / fuel / seawater mixture. But fortunately,
as you can see, he ended up living a lot longer than they estimated
and went on to become a master model ship builder.
We hope that you like what you see, and
that it will help you realize what collectors can really do in
this great hobby of ours.
