Hey there, Hi there, Ho there!

I'm SFC Steven Johnson, a member of the Ohio Army National Guard. Like most of you, I got turned on to the GIjOE life as a child growing up in the 1960's. My parents weren't able to buy me alot of stuff, but they did get me a new Joe every now and again.

After the Mike Power edition, I kind of gave it up for other things (mostly girls). But I started re-collecting in the early 90's when I found a couple of vintage 12-inch Joe's at a yard sale (and was hooked again). I totally bypassed the 3-inch versions and the 12-inchers with limited mobility and kooky weapons (you know the ones).

Then, In 1995, I ran into the new Classic Collection offerings and I bought the SAS, Aussie, US Infantry and from on there my collection just grew and grew. Being a soldier, I appreciate all of the detail that is put into not only GIjOE, but the whole action figure genre.

Nowadays, my collection represents my own experience within the military as well as back to 'nam and a few Korean War types. But the bulk of my team is representative of the here and now. Being a veteran of OIF II, my desert troops are where my head is. My collection is not totally GI Joe, but a mix of Dragon, BBI, Power team, Soldiers of the World and anything else that is 12 inches tall.

Honestly, I didn't realize that so many of you were into collecting, and I gotta tell ya, the stuff I'm seeing is awesome! There are some fantastic collections featured on this website and I enjoy the hell out of seeing what you guys have done.

Someday, I hope to have the time to build dioramas as well. My son Aaron is also into Joe's (another generation!) and he actually found this website, so I figure at some point he'll take the reigns of my collection and really run with it.

I've included a few pics of my team along with my son and me. The uniform is the one I wear everyday, and the little mini-cam is what i do for the Army. I started in the Infantry when I was 18 served with the 82nd, 6th ID and 6th ID on active duty and eventually wound up in the Guard.

Now I'm a broadcast journalist, and have been all over the world with my trusty video cam and weapon making the world safe for television viewers everywhere. With that said, I hope you enjoy the pictures of my collection. Suggestions, criticisms and comments are always welcome.

Duty First!
